What is Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation?

    Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, also known as rehabilitation medicine or physiatry, is a medical specialty targeted at maintaining, enhancing and restoring function as well as quality of life in individuals with physical impairments or disabilities.

Patients and their support system (family or caregiver) are educated and trained if possible to obtain the necessary skills for independent living within the community.
